You might recall that we had planned to launch our Zero Waste Initiative at our Christmas Market, but due to extreme weather and the huge task of rescheduling, we had to postpone it. We are relaunching it this week and taking on one of today’s biggest challenges: reducing waste and protecting our planet.
During the market this weekend we’ll be on patrol, gathering baseline data that will serve as the foundation for reducing and ultimately eliminating waste over the next five years. All waste over the weekend will be segregated at source, weighted and recorded. It takes a lot of hand to do this so if you want to volunteer for a two-hour slot, please get in touch. We’re also collaborating with local groups, including the Climate Action and Environmental Department in Cavan County Council to make this initiative a success 💪
Watch this space – we have made a start towards becoming a fully zero-waste event🌍
Visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle to this event, where possible, bring a picnic blanket and embrace summer with nature and local food.
