The Grow Trail
The Grow Trail is a network of growers set up by The Cottage Market Cavan in Sept 2018. The aim of the Grow Trail is to bring local growers together, to collectively market their homegrown produce through The Local Green Box Cavan.
Fresh Produce Range
Our fresh produce includes vegetables, fruit, salad and herbs from several growing sites across Cavan and our border counties. These growing sites are based in Mullahoran, Ballyconnell, Bawnboy, Ballinagh, Killeshandra, Corduff, Carrigasimon, Lisboduff. Oldcastle and Carnaross. Organic and regenerative techniques are used by all our growers. This means real care for your health, your family and the environment.
Zero Waste & Foraged Range
We are currently working on a zero waste range of preserves and ferments created from produce from our growers. This means any produce that doesn’t make it into your green box, can be used to make pesto, jams, sauces, bakes and more. The Cottage Market Cavan has put together a package to support and assist anyone that has untapped food-producing skills.
Our starter food producer package provides a supportive route to market and a small network of small-scale growers/producers that are always willing to help and share knowledge
Support, Mentoring & Training
All our produce is available through The Local Green Box Cavan on a weekly basis. Our food is fresh and harvested on the morning of collection, nutritious and grown free of all harmful chemicals! And incredibly easy to order and pick up.
Our group provides support, mentoring and training to new and existing growers.
Packaging
The package includes the following and requires a collaboration with three local service providers:
Certified Food Kitchen
Use of a certified food kitchen for a Test & Learn phase of a food product - CCLD Bridge Street kitchen
Food Hygiene & Safety Training
ETB (already in place - we have trained several of our current producers this way)
Route To Market
Route to market, advice and support (plus access to a network of similar producers) - The Cottage Market Cavan
