How to use: Mix 1–2 tsp of husks with 1 tbsp of seeds in 250ml water. Let it soak for 30 mins or overnight in the fridge. Perfect for adding to yogurt, oats, or drinking straight as a daily health boost!
Because psyllium is highly absorbent, it creates a thick, jelly-like consistency that is very popular for gut health.
Tip
- Hydration is Key: Psyllium husks act like a sponge. If you consume this, you must drink plenty of water throughout the day, or it can actually have the opposite effect on your digestion.
- Texture Check: If it becomes too thick after soaking overnight, simply stir in a little more water or to loosen it up. Since you are using whole seeds (sunflower/pumpkin), they will stay crunchy. If you use flax seeds, they will also create their own “mucilage” (gel) alongside the psyllium, making the mixture even thicker!
- Flavoring: On its own, this is very bland. Many people add a squeeze of lemon, a pinch of cinnamon, or a few berries to make it more palatable.
